MTV Unplugged: Los Tigres del Norte and Friends is a live album by Mexican recording artists Los Tigres del Norte. It was recorded before a live audience at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California, on February 8, 2011 and released by Fonovisa Records on May 24, 2011. The album includes featured performances by Andrés Calamaro, Calle 13, Zack de la Rocha, Juanes, Paulina Rubio and Diego Torres.

The Anabasis of May and Fusako Shigenobu, Masao Adachi, and 27 Years Without Images – 2011

A film on exile, revolution, landscapes and memory, Anabasis brings forth the remarkable parallel stories of Adachi and May, one a filmmaker who gave up images, the other a young woman whose identity-less existence forbade keeping images of her own life. Fittingly returning the image to their lives, director Eric Baudelaire places Adachi and May’s revelatory voiceover reminiscences against warm, fragile Super-8mm footage of their split milieus, Tokyo and Beirut. Grounding their wide-ranging reflections in a solid yet complex reality, Anabasis provides a richly rewarding look at a fascinating, now nearly forgotten era (in politics and cinema), reminding us of film’s own ability to portray—and influence—its landscape.

The Egoists – 2011

Kazu (Kengo Kora) lives in the Kabukicho entertainment district in Shinjuku, Tokyo. After falling into debt from gambling, he gets an offer from yakuza Ito (Jun Murakami) to trash the night club “New World” and his debt would be paid off. At the nightclub “New World,” gambling goes on without permission from the gang which Ito belongs to. When Kazu attacks the bar with yakuza members, dancer Machiko Yagi (Anne Suzuki), who Kazu likes, is at the bar. Under this chaotic situation, Kazu takes Machiko from the waiting room and asks her to run away with him.

The House – 2011

The Korean Academy of Film Arts has produced an animation for 3 consecutive years through a collaborative project. Considering the severe reality of Korean animation in that it lacks an industrial infrastructure, “The House” demonstrates the possibilities of Korean animation and the efficiency of collective production. While comparing apartments in the downtown core to the shabby environment of a marginalized district, “The House” portrays the collapse of the spirits dwelling at the house. As such the adventure of Ga-young and the spirits in the house becomes a criticism of modern society: enlightenment via animation. Although this animation may not have the most delicate or original style, the 5 animators that worked on this film unleashed their imaginations, ultimately showcasing the power of a collective process and a pleasure of the collective imagination.

Griffith Townsend (Michael Fredianelli) enjoys a successful career as senior editor at the San Francisco Chronicle with only one problem: he is plagued with amnesia. With the help of a washed-up psychologist (Ray Medved), he reluctantly unearths a number of odd habits which can only be described as unnatural and bizarre. Meanwhile, a strange woman, Maggie (Kat Reichmuth), awakens in Golden Gate Park with no recollections of how she arrived. Enlisting the aid of a friendly social worker (William McMichael) and local gypsy (Selenia Mason), she slowly begins to recall her true identity. With an increasing and unexpected desire consuming her, it becomes clear that Griffith and Maggie’s new obsessions may be more than just memory loss as they become a dangerous and deadly threat to the city and each other.
