The End of Puberty – 2011

In a noisy classroom, biology teacher Madoka proceeds with his lesson in a small voice.He is unable to look the students square in the face nor admonish them for talking or sleeping in class. Only Tsubura looks upon him with a smile. Very much infatuated with Madoka, she records his idiosyncrasies in her biology notebook through illustrations–tapping his hand on his chin is proof that he is annoyed; messily tugging at his hair when he is at his wits’ end. Tsubara, fearful of being forgotten after she dies, only eats things loaded with preservatives so that even if she dies, her body will not rot. Believing such things, Tsubara, thinking that “combining Mr. Madoka who has no one with me who needs someone would surely be perfect,” gets the wild idea of a genital exchange with Madoka.

Foo Fighters – Wasting Light Live From 606 – 2011

The band began recording their seventh studio album in August 2010 with producer Butch Vig, who had previously produced the two new tracks for the band’s Greatest Hits album. The album was recorded in Dave Grohl’s garage using only analog equipment. A documentary on the band’s history, Back and Forth, was released theatrically on April 5 along with a live 3-d performance of the album Wasting Light. While most theaters viewed the show in its entirety, some theaters had technical issues and the band rescheduled to have Back And Forth played on April 14, 2011. On April 13, 2011, the band performed the entire album live from Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 and uploaded it to YouTube in its entirety.

Triangle: Remembering the Fire – 2011

On March 25, 1911, a catastrophic fire broke out at the Triangle Waist Company in New York City. Trapped inside the upper floors of a ten-story building, 146 workers – mostly young immigrant women and teenage girls – were burned alive or forced to jump to their deaths to escape an inferno that consumed the factory in just 18 minutes. It was the worst disaster at a workplace in New York State until 9/11. The tragedy changed the course of history, paving the way for government to represent working people, not just business, for the first time, and helped an emerging American middle class to live the American Dream.
