Sekali Lagi – 2011

Sekali Lagi tells story of Arman (Shaheizy Sam) a man with autism who comes across a little girl, Amy, as snatch thieves almost rob him. Amy is a little girl who is smart and independent therefore Arman frequently spends time with Amy, which in turn enables Arman to be more independent. Things take another twist when Arman meets Amy’s mother Sheila (Lisa Surihani), and Sheila soon finds that she’s torn between her boyfriend Faris (Bront Palarae) and the sweet Arman (Shaheizy Sam), with whom her daughter has formed a bond with.

Three young adults meet a charismatic stranger at closing time of the bar where they work. They accept an invitation to join a late night gathering he is attending with some friends in a secluded desert house. At first charmed by their interesting hosts, a violent encounter changes the tone of their evening, and the group begins to realize that all may not be as it seems with their new acquaintances. Faced now with a decision to either wait out the morning or plot an escape, they contend not only with the ambiguous true nature of their hosts, but also strange, unknown humanoid creatures roaming the desert who may pose a threat to all involved.

Three Japanese friends taste donkey meat provided by their butcher friend Sakado. Astonished by the exotic flavor of the meat, the three men decide to buy Igor, a donkey, in order to eat him. Takeo, Hiroshi and Jun rejoice in their gastronomic project as they are passing though streets filled with wreaths, candles and other Christmas decorations in the Komoro City shopping area. But at the sight of a Nativity scene displayed in a shop window, doubt takes hold of them at the sight of the donkey next to the baby Jesus. Is the donkey sacred to Christians? Slaughtering the donkey for a gastronomic delight will be more complicated than expected! In an offset and falsely light mood, ‘In search of a donkey’ conveys our relationship to foreign religions.

Pathinaaru – 2011

Shiva (Shiva) and Indu (Madhu Shalini) are city-based students,who love each other. However, their love is strongly opposed by the latter’s parents. They’re given a handwritten book titled “Pathinaaru” (Sixteen) by Indhu’s mother to read. The book depicts a real-life story about two village teenagers Gopi (Kishore) and Ilavarasi (Vinitha), and their romance as they step into adolescence. Facing opposition from her affluent family, the gutsy Ilavarasi takes some bold unconventional steps, which backfires on her. The story of unrequited love and betrayal leaves Indu in a dilemma and she prepares to go with her family’s desires. But Siva is not ready to give up Indu and sets out to do his own investigation to get to the bottom of what ultimately happened to Gopi and Ilavarasi.
